Johnathan Michael Lawson ("Johnny Nos") founded Slyd District Racing League with a vision of creating positive opportunities for car enthusiasts through organized takeover-style motorsports, mentorship, education, and community engagement.
Drawing from his personal experiences and passion for automotive culture, Johnathan recognized the importance of creating constructive environments where enthusiasts can connect, develop skills, build relationships, and participate in activities that emphasize safety, responsibility, and respect for the community.
Under his leadership, Slyd District Racing League has worked alongside community organizations, public agencies, automotive professionals, and volunteers to promote youth engagement, public safety, and positive automotive experiences. Through collaboration and community partnerships, the organization seeks to create opportunities that bring people together while fostering leadership, personal growth, and responsible participation in motorsports.
Johnathan remains committed to building a lasting organization that supports enthusiasts, strengthens communities, and inspires future generations through education, mentorship, and organized automotive programs.
A little history...
At first, it was a God-given vision to build something I had never attempted, but it was the transition I needed to go from the life of being lost to living with a purpose I thought was long gone. Then from building and designing, to going to Japan, to doing builds for schools (such as San Jose' High School) and a time of homelessness and still holding onto the hope that it would be more. I sometimes felt lost, and only had faith that this was to become something greater. What I soon found out was that it was to become greater than myself, something that would be the "vehicle" to change lives, with all the doubters, dismissals, naysayers and little support, I had to keep going. Then after a rebuilding of self and focusing on a deeper purpose and commitment to a situation that was becoming a public safety concern, Slyd District finally found it's place to be planted and flourish. But this was not without its battles and still current challenges, yet, this is the fertilizer needed to get deeper roots. As we have reached the current positioning of Slyd District into being the ONLY organization offering safe, legal venues for competition and community unification, I am proud to say that in all the trials and victories, there is a solid foundation for the Slyd District Racing League to build the legacy it was meant to be, for others to enjoy and become more. Having the mix between the Stay Tun3d Apparel and Slyd District Racing League, along with the other branches of this community, a definitive line is drawn between what many have said is the continuing legacy of what had disappeared decades ago (many have said this is just like Big Willie Robinson's mission to create change). I don't know whether it is or isn't, but I know this, God gave me this purpose so others can develop the purpose He gave them. It's more than just a racing league, its a family...
